The Museum of East Bohemia presented a golden treasure found by two tourists on the southwestern slope of the Zvicina hill near Dvur Kralove nad Labem this February. The new-age treasure, estimated to be worth more than CZK 7.5 million, which was stored in two boxes containing gold coins, jewellery and other items weighing a total of seven kilograms, was handed over by the finders to the Museum of East Bohemia (MVC) in Hradec Kralove. The coins weighing 3.7 kilograms are guaranteed to be gold, Miroslav Novak, head of the archaeological department of the Czech Archaeological Museum, told reporters today, on Friday, April 25, 2025. Scientists are analysing other metal objects. The boxes were placed in the 20th century in an artificial stone mound on the edge of a vanished field overgrown with forest. "An aluminium box protruding above the surface of the mound contained a total of 598 coins divided into 11 columns and wrapped in fabric. A metal box found about a metre away then contained yellow metal objects, namely a total of 16 tabards, ten bracelets, a bag made of fine wire mesh, a comb, a chain with a key and a powder box," Novak said.
