The jungle city is in a state of emergency, after being surrounded by the overflowing waters from the rivers of Nanay, Itaya and Amazon. The rivers have surpassed their record high and are three feet (0.91 metres) above the normal level. The health alert for dengue and malaria has been declared and about 60 improvised shelters located in schools, churches and community centres have been installed, local media reported.
