The clinical symptoms of bluetongue in cattle are inflammation of the teat skin and the mucous membranes around the eyelids, mouth cavity and genitals with vesicle formation and detachment of the mucous membranes, particularly on the tongue, mouth and coronet band. The virus usually remains active in the animals for 100 days. The disease can heal. The animals then develop robust immunity.
