The eye of hurricane Patricia, the strongest storm ever recorded in the Americas, has made landfall on the Pacific coast of Mexico's Jalisco state, authorities say. As the category-five storm reaches land, the hurricane has sustained winds of 270 kilometers per hour, the US National Hurricane Centre says. Strong winds and heavy rain are particularly affecting the states of Jalisco, Colima and Nayarit.
