dpatop - 27 June 2026, Saxony, Leipzig: A prolonged heat wave with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees caused significant damage to the tram infrastructure in Leipzig. Along the tracks, the bitumen melted, was forced out by passing trams, and compromised the stability of the track bed, as seen here on Trödlinring. As a result, tram service was suspended in large parts of the city. Photo: Heiko Rebsch/dpa
