moderiert. Schon vor der Gala stand "Game of Thrones" als einer der großen Sieger fest. Die Emmys in den Nebenkategorien gingen bereits ein Wochenende zuvor an die glücklichen Gewinner - "Game of Thrones" streifte dabei neun der Statuetten ein.
Bei der eigentlichen Preisverleihung setzte sich die HBO-Serie endgültig die Krone auf: Die Fantasy-Saga erhielt nicht nur drei weitere Preise, sondern auch den 38. Emmy insgesamt. Keine Primetime-Show wurde öfter bei den Emmys ausgezeichnet (bislang war "Frasier" mit 37 Auszeichnungen Rekordhalter).
Der zweite große Sieger der 68. Emmy-Verleihung war die Mini-Serie "American Crime Story", die fünf der Goldstatuetten ergatterte. Insgesamt schnitten in diesem Jahr die "traditionellen" Fernsehformate besser ab als Streaming-Produktionen.
